Bronze statue in memory of Kolokotronis

The bronze statue of Lieutenant Theodore Kolokotronis, popularly known as "The Old Man of Moria," the hero of the Greek Revolution, dominates the park of the former rail station. The sculptor Lazaros Sohos of Tinos created this striking statue. Encircled by four identical cannons, it depicts the leader of the independence movement riding a horse and leading the other chieftains to Tripoli, which is the ideal location for the last battle with the Turks. Athens' Klafthmonos Square is home to a replica of this statue.
